Rolling kitchen cart

A rolling kitchen cart is a freestanding, wheeled unit that adds counter surface, shelving, drawers, or some mix of the three to a kitchen without any permanent installation. Because it moves on casters, it can serve as extra prep counter while cooking and then roll into a corner or a pantry afterward, which matters in a kitchen too small to spare permanent counter footprint for occasional-use surface area.

Sizes range from a narrow bar cart width that slides into a gap beside the fridge to a full butcher block island on wheels, so measuring the exact gap or path it needs to roll through matters more than it does for fixed furniture. Locking casters are worth checking for, since a cart that rolls away mid-chop is more of a hazard than a convenience.

A common mistake is buying a cart based on style rather than what it is meant to hold, then discovering the shelves are too shallow for the pots and small appliances it was supposed to store. Weight capacity on the top surface matters too if the plan is to use it as a stand for a stand mixer or a multi-cooker rather than just light prep work.
